"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
Welcome to Calvary Baptist Church! Our mission is to teach people about the love of Jesus Christ, to bring them into our Christian fellowship, and to help them grow in their relationship with Jesus, Our Savior.

How Do I Become A Christian?
What do you think it takes for someone to get to heaven? Is it luck? Good deeds? Nothing at all? Or is there something more? The Bible has the real answer to this question. It's a matter of FAITH.
F stands for FORGIVENESS. We cannot have eternal life without God's forgiveness. Ephesians 1:7a says, "In Him (Jesus Christ) we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins."
A is for AVAILABLE. Forgiveness is available for all. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." But forgiveness is not automatic. "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven," says Matthew 7:21a.
I is for IMPOSSIBLE. It is impossible for God to allow sin into heaven because of who He is and because of who we are. God is loving and just, but His judgment is against sin. James 2:13a says, "Because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful." We are sinful people. Romans 3:23 tells us, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
T is for TURN. To turn means to repent. We can repent -- or turn -- from our sin and from ourselves. "But unless you repent, you too will all perish," Luke 13:3b says. We can also turn to Someone. Trust Christ alone. Romans 10:9 tells us how: "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
H is for HEAVEN. Heaven is eternal life. Here, that means life "to the full:" "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10b)." In the hereafter, it means the promise of heaven: "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am (John 14:3)."
So how can a person have God's forgiveness, heaven and eternal life, and Jesus as personal Savior and Lord? By trusting in Christ and asking Him for forgiveness. Take the step of faith described by another meaning of FAITH: Forsaking All I Trust Him.
You do this through a simple prayer reflecting your desire for Christ to change your life. You don't need fancy words--only an honest heart. You can pray something like this:
Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and have displeased You in many ways. I believe You died for my sin, and only through faith in Your death and resurrection can I be forgiven. I want to turn from my sin and ask You to come into my life as my Savior and Lord. From this day on, I will follow You by living a life that pleases You. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for saving me. Amen.
Accepting Christ is just the beginning of a wonderful adventure with God! Get to know Him better in a number of ways:
- Follow Christ's example in baptism.
- Join a church where you can worship God and grow in your faith.
- In your church, get involved in Sunday School and Bible study.
- Begin a daily personal worship experience with God where you study the Bible and pray.
We’d love to hear from you -- Please feel free to ask us any questions you have about becoming a Christian, or tell us about your decision to follow Jesus Christ.

Acts 1:8
What's Happening on the Mission Field?
Here are two awesome updates from the “JESUS” Film Project, a ministry of the Campus Crusade for Christ International. I decided to put them on our website so that you too may know what wonders our Lord is doing in the Middle East!
In the former “No-Fly Zone” of southern Iraq, two Muslim leaders – an Imam and a Muslim religious teacher – had a vision. Independent of each other, they saw the risen Son of God, Jesus our Lord. He appeared before them in Glory, declaring that He was Jesus and that they were to seek out the truth. Overcome by His presence, they both fell to their knees in awe and worship.
Days later, these two Muslim clerics were given the opportunity to watch “JESUS” on video – again, in separate locations. They were taken aback. The person they saw in the video was the man they had seen in their visions. (For some profound reason, God chooses to present Himself in such a way that some immediately recognize Him as the man in the film “JESUS.” This is not an isolated instance. The missionaries have heard such reports on numerous occasions.) Both clerics prayed to receive Christ.
Days later, the two men met. They were so transformed that each had come to share his own experience and win the other man to Christ. What a moment it must have been when they discovered they had seen the Lord and had both become believers! They now lead a group of 17 other new believers who have all experienced a vision of the risen Christ.

Salim had escaped from a dangerous country in the Middle East. He literally walked out of the country, over mountains, through Turkey, and finally to the refugee center – a place where they show “JESUS” every day. There, Salim put his trust in Christ and was trained to share his faith. He became a ministry leader and pastor at the refugee center, and began helping to use the “JESUS” film.
Back in his home country, an assassin was given the task of finding Salim and killing him, or at least inflicting great bodily harm. It took some time, but the assassin “found his man.” He walked into a meeting at the refugee center where Salim was preaching. The assassin sat in the back, quietly pulled out his weapon and waited for the right moment.
Up front, Salim was sharing the gospel, how God loved every person in that room, that Jesus (the Son of God) died for their sins, that He offered forgiveness and new life. At the invitation, the assassin walked to the front of the room, weapon in hand. He reached out his arm and handed it to Salim, saying, “I came to kill you. I instead want Jesus to forgive me and grant me a new life.”
Salim and his assassin were last seen in a Bible study together, joyous in their faith, helping to show “JESUS” to other refugees, leading and discipling many to the Lord!
Now that Saddam’s regime is no more, many Muslims want to know about the “God of the Christians.” Pray that their eyes may be opened to the Truth. Pray for the missionaries, film project leaders, and other Christian leaders as they use this wonderful tool to further the kingdom of God.
